Wealthsimple uses artificial intelligence (“AI”) in various features available directly to clients, such as chat assistants, voice agents, and analytical tools (collectively, the “AI Services”). When you use AI Services, you're interacting with artificial intelligence technology, and not a human representative. This disclosure explains how these customer-facing AI Services work, their limitations, and important information you should know before you use them. By using our AI Services you understand and agree to these terms.
What is AI and How We Use It
Artificial Intelligence or AI refers to technology that can understand your questions or inputs, process information, and generate responses or insights. AI uses techniques such as machine learning (learning from data patterns) and natural language processing (understanding human language). This includes generative AI, which can create original content such as text responses, summaries, or analysis based on your inputs.
Wealthsimple currently uses AI in providing the following AI Services:
Chat assistants: To help answer questions, provide information about your accounts, and assist with certain transactions
Voice agents: To provide customer support through voice-based interactions (inbound and outbound)
Analysis tools: To help educate users about financial concepts and strategies
Content generation: To create summaries, explanations, and educational materials
Important Limitations
When you interact with any Wealthsimple AI Services, any generated responses or outputs are for informational and educational purposes only. They do not constitute financial, legal, tax or investment advice, signals or recommendations.
Wealthsimple AI Services cannot and do not consider your individual financial situation, goals, risk tolerance, or personal circumstances. For personalized advice, please consult with a qualified financial advisor.
Accuracy and Errors
While we strive for accuracy and quality, AI-generated information may contain errors, inaccuracies, or outdated information. AI Services can provide incomplete or incorrect information, misunderstand context or nuance, generate responses that sound authoritative but may be inaccurate (sometimes called "hallucinations"), miss important details or considerations, and produce inaccurate calculations and numerical outputs.
The AI services are not a calculator. You must not rely on AI for mathematical calculations or computations, financial projections or modeling, account balance verifications, tax calculations, options pricing or profit/loss calculations, rate comparisons and return calculations; or any other numerical analysis that could affect your financial decisions . You must independently verify all numbers, calculations, or financial figures generated by AI using appropriate tools or by consulting with a qualified professional. For account-specific information such as balances, transactions, or holdings, always refer to your official account statements.
Ownership of the Content
All content, responses, analysis, summaries, and other materials generated by the AI Services ("AI-Generated Content") are owned by Wealthsimple. By using the AI Services, Wealthsimple grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, royalty-free license to use the AI-Generated Content for your own personal, non-commercial use for an indefinite period. This license does not permit you to reproduce, distribute, publicly display, or create derivative works from the AI-Generated Content for commercial purposes without Wealthsimple's prior written consent.
Options Trading Specific Limitations
Our AI-powered options analysis tools are for educational purposes only. Options trading is complex and involves a significant risk of loss. You could lose your entire investment. AI-generated options analysis does not constitute a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security or option. It may not account for all relevant market factors or risks, cannot predict future market performance, and must not be relied upon as the sole basis for trading decisions. You are solely responsible for your trading decisions and any resulting losses. Multilingual Content
AI-Generated Content responses may be produced in multiple languages. AI-Generated Content generated in different languages may not be fully accurate and may not capture all nuances, cultural context, or technical precision. When accuracy is critical, please contact a financial professional.
How AI Processes Your Information
Data Collection and Use
When you interact with Wealthsimple AI Services, your conversations, inputs, and interactions are recorded and stored. The information you provide is used to generate responses and improve our services. Your interactions may be monitored for quality assurance, product improvement, and training purposes. Your data may also be processed by third-party AI service providers. All data processing is conducted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
You should only share information necessary for your request. While AI Services are designed to assist with legitimate account functions (such as facilitating transfers or answering questions), you should exercise caution. Do not share passwords or security codes, information you would not want processed or stored, or unnecessary sensitive personal information. Internal Use of AI
Wealthsimple also uses AI internally to improve our operations, enhance security, and to improve our service offerings. This may include using AI for fraud detection and prevention, customer service quality assurance and training, product development and improvement, and risk management and compliance. When we use AI to process your personal information for these purposes, we do so in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Liability Disclaimer
By using AI Services, you acknowledge and agree that: (a) you will independently verify important information; (b) that you will not rely on the AI Services for financial, investment, or trading decisions; (c) you understand AI has limitations and may make errors’ (d) you are responsible for your own financial decisions and account activity, and (e) you will not hold Wealthsimple liable for any losses or damages arising from your use of the AI Services.
Wealthsimple does not assume responsibility or liability for: (a) the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of AI-generated content; (b) calculations, numerical outputs, or financial projections generated by AI; (c) any financial losses, damages, or harm resulting from reliance on the AI Services; (d) errors, omissions, hallucinations, or misunderstandings in AI responses; (e) technical failures, interruptions, or unavailability of AI Services; and (f) any decisions you make based on the AI Services. This limitation applies to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law and is in addition to the limitations in our Terms of Use.
Changes to AI Services
We may update, modify, or discontinue AI features at any time without prior notice. We may also update this disclosure from time to time. Continued use of AI Services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated disclosure.
